Retreat to Colesville

In the morning, we drove 30 miles northeast to the area of the Colesville Branch of the Church in the early day.  Here were the Joseph Knight, Sr and Josiah Stowell homes.  Both are owned and have been restored by individuals rather than the church.  They operate as a foundation and are a volunteer effort.

The volunteer docent is a Brother Jones, descendant of Daniel W. Jones and from California on the steps of the Joseph Knight, Sr. house.

Sister Jefferies listening in the Knight home.

The Josiah Stowell home (mansion when built).

In the parlor room where Joseph proposed to Emma and in front of the mantle from the Squire Tarbell home where they were married.

After the tours, we returned to Palmyra for a temple session and then supper in the Joseph Smith, Sr Farm Visitor Center building.  We were joined by some missionary couples who did not make the trip and most of the mission presidency.

Sisters Elders Jones, Spencer, Jefferies, Buchanans, Turturas Marsings, Loveridges, Cowans and Presidents and Sisters Christopherson and Evans,
